Luxeon Rebel lumen maintenance exceeds Energy Star® guidelines

Feb. 24, 2009
Date Announced: 24 Feb 2009 San Jose, CA – Philips Lumileds’ announced today that test data for its Luxeon Rebel LEDs shows performance that exceeds Energy Star® guidelines intended to ensure quality solid-state luminaire development. The data shows that Luxeon Rebel LEDs have average lumen maintenance of 99% after 6,000 hours, far surpassing the 91.8% Energy Star requirements for residential fixtures as well as available published data for other power LEDs. The results reinforce the superior lumen maintenance performance that has been a hallmark of Luxeon LEDs since they were introduced in 2000, They reflect the ability of the materials used to build Luxeon LEDs — including those used in the Epitaxial process, the phosphors, and the lens and packaging materials — to withstand the rigors of use and the elements to which they might be exposed under a variety of conditions without degrading the light output too rapidly. Customers wishing to see the extended extrapolation results can contact their Future Lighting Solutions account manager or Philips Lumileds technical support.
