Litelogic wins major Canadian bus contract

Date Announced: 05 Jun 2009 -- Digital advertising company wins contract to fit their LED digital displays across the Vancouver transit system.Litelogic Operations, the UK-based digital advertising company, announced yesterday that it had been given the go-ahead to fit its digital signage systems across the Vancouver Transit System. This follows a successful pilot project to trial an externally mounted Litelogic LED Digital Advertising Display on the side of a city bus. The Litelogic technology will now be installed on Vancouver buses in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics.“This contract is excellent news for Litelogic and demonstrates the increasing extent to which advertising experts believe the future of our industry lies with digital displays,” says David Elks, Managing Director of Litelogic Operations.Investment in the new technology will enable Lamar Advertising (the company which operates Vancouver Transit System media spaces) to rotate advertisements, and make them location and time specific. Litelogic Operations successfully designed, built and installed the world’s first proven and robust mobile LED display system currently deployed in both the UK and the US. Litelogic produces lightweight display systems and have designed their online content management software, Litecast. This software is proven in helping its customers increase revenue by targeting their audience with advertising and information according to day, time and location.Lamar Advertising is a 107-year-old company with head office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and operates over 150 outdoor advertising companies in more than 40 states and Puerto Rico. In 2005 Lamar Advertising acquired Obie Media who previously held the contract for transit advertising services with BC Transit. As well as Vancouver the company also serves 30 smaller municipal systems in BC with the contract running until 2020.
