Date Announced: 11 Nov 2009 -- Organization, members to present demonstration of innovative Standard at GreenbuildPHOENIX, ARIZ. -– The EMerge Alliance – an open industry association leading the rapid adoption of safe, low-voltage direct-current (DC) power distribution and use in commercial building interiors – today announced that 10 more organizations have joined the coalition in support of the new EMerge Alliance Standard. Lutron Electronics, Philips Electronics and Roal Electronics have joined the Alliance as Participating Members, and Energy Solutions International, Good Energies, Lucifer Lighting Company, MCV Technologies and Standard Solar have joined at the Supporting level. New Liaison Members include the Continental Automated Building Association (CABA) and the EnergyPeak Alliance. Since it was formed in 2008, the EMerge Alliance has doubled its membership of leaders involved in the ownership, design, construction, furnishing and equipping of commercial buildings, who share the Alliance’s vision to bring sustainability and savings to commercial buildings. According to EMerge Alliance Chairman Brian Patterson, the recent membership momentum reflects growing industry support for the Alliance and its new Standard, which is aimed at reducing energy loss associated with powering the many digital devices in today’s workplaces. “The Alliance achieved a major milestone with the release of the Standard last month and we’re moving forward with the development of our third-party registration and evaluation program,” said Patterson. “Not only does the continued membership growth we’ve experienced demonstrate the significant support for this new approach to power in our buildings, but it also accelerates progress toward application and interoperability of products based on the Standard.” An informative concept demonstration of the EMerge Alliance Standard will be on display at U.S Green Building Council, Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Phoenix, Ariz., Nov. 10-12, 2009. The presentation, which will take place at the EMerge Alliance booth (2252), includes a working model of a ceiling-based DC system and a side-by-side comparison of DC and AC power sources and devices, such as solar panels, lighting fixtures, dimmers and occupancy sensors. Founding Members Armstrong Ceilings and OSRAM SYLVANIA will also be hosting application demonstrations related to the EMerge Standard in their company booths. This new standard integrates interior infrastructures, power, controls and peripheral devices in a common platform for the selective and scaleable distribution of low-voltage DC power.
