Date Announced: 06 Mar 2009 Stadskanaal, The Netherlands, -- CrystalQ Group B.V., based in Stadskanaal, The Netherlands, an industry leader active in the development and production of sapphire substrates, has announced the appointment of Mr. Peter W. van Strijp, former Executive Vice President of Philips Lighting and CEO of its Solid State Lighting Business Unit, as the Chairman of its Supervisory Board and the appointment of Dr. Peter Stormberg, former Chief Technology Officer of Philips Lighting, to its Supervisory Board.Mr. van Strijp contributes an extensive knowledge and experience base, deriving from his long-standing career in the lighting industry, both in conventional as well as solid state lighting. Until his retirement early 2008, he was CEO of the Solid State Lighting Business Unit at Philips Lighting. In that position he also served as a Board member at Lumileds and was directly involved in several of Philips Lighting’s LED-related acquisitions. He currently serves on several boards of companies in the LED value chain. Mr. van Strijp holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Eindhoven as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.Dr. Stormberg has more than 30 years experience in Research and Development in various lighting technologies and, until his recent retirement, held the position of CTO of Philips Lighting. He was responsible for the R&D strategy for conventional and solid state lighting technologies. He was also involved in Philips Lighting’s acquisitions and definition of the Intellectual Property strategy. He represented Philips Lighting on several standardization committees and in the Board of the European technology platform Photonics21, where he chaired the working group ‘Lighting & Displays’.
