Date Announced: 11 Mar 2009 This summer, Setanta Screens will deliver three days of Drive-In Movies at Farmleigh, in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. The service is provided free-of-charge by the Office of Public Works at Farmleigh House. Last year the drive-in movies experience was regarded as one of the highlight events of 2008. Showings included American horror thriller film Jaws, 1978’s musical and romance film, Grease, Irish light-hearted comedy film, The Snapper, and The Shining, all of which were a huge success and oversubscribed with more than 2,000 cars full of people enjoying the movies on a 50.Sq.m LED screen provided by Setanta. Whilst the movie is shown on the huge screen at the Park, the sound is delivered via digital FM signal to car stereos onsite. Further sites nationwide are also being considered for a touring Drive-In event later in the summer.Setanta Screens also provided an outdoor LED screen for the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. Roscommon native and contemporary artist, James Coleman is currently displaying some of his artwork collections throughout the city from March 6th to April 26th. Setanta Screens have provided a 63 metre squared LED screen which is located in the courtyard of The Irish Museum of Modern Art. It exhibits Coleman’s 1980’s piece ‘So Different…and Yet’.The screen is the largest installation of its kind providing viewers complete uninterrupted access to the artist’s work. For 30 years, he has used projected film, slide shows and photographs as a way of conveying his reflections on the meaning of images, moving or static.Coleman has successfully influenced and changed the way in which we engage, understand and interpret art today. Displaying his works on Setanta’s LED screen invites yet another change to the way in which he presents and enables a wide interpretation of art, suitable to the ever changing technological shift.Ronan O’Kelly of Setanta Screens says “This is exactly the kind of challenge we love. James Coleman’s work demands new and different qualities of our technology and the team have been immersed in the challenge to deliver his unique vision. It is a brilliant illustration of what our team and our equipment capabilities are. James’ work is world-renowned and has a reputation for the very highest of standards, so for him to entrust such an important international exhibition to us is a great honour, it has been a real pleasure for us all to work with and learn from him”.
