Longtime lighting-industry executive Gary Gulden joins manufacturer Coldstream Group, Inc., as partner and principal

Date Announced: 10 Dec 2012 Mamaroneck, NY — Coldstream Group, Inc., parent organization to famed commercial and upscale residential energy-saving interior lighting manufacturing companies Nessen, and d’ac (short for the French “d’accord”), each bought in 2010 from Philips Lighting, has announced that Gary W. Gulden has joined Coldstream Group as an equity partner and fellow principal of the company. Effective now, announcement was made by Robert N. Haidinger, Jr., president, general manager of the Nessen and d’ac companies, and a founding officer of Coldstream Group, Inc.Mr. Gulden serves as vice president of business development for the Nessen and d’ac lighting brands. Nessen was founded in 1927 by historic New York City society interior and lighting designer Walter von Nessen (1889-1943), who created the foldable wall-mounted ambient/accent light. That breakthrough design’s contemporary, energy-saving successors continue to be manufactured in America today directly by the Nessen company, in its own New York plant.d’ac lighting was created in 1995 as an adjunct to the Nessen company, and a manufacturer of a then new concept in commercially specified and upscale residential interior lighting, given the category name “Soft Industrial.” These were, and remain today, contemporary interpretations of 20th and 21st Century industrial lighting fixtures. In the last several years, they have been augmented by complementing designs of a refined style. Like Nessen all d’ac fixtures are proudly made in the U.S.Mr. Gulden had a series of progressive management positions with the Genlyte Corporation (now owned by Philips Lighting) during much of the 1980s and ‘90s. In 1994, he joined the JJI Lighting Group, Inc., (formerly the largest privately-owned lighting manufacturer in the U.S.) where he served in various capacities including vice president of sales and marketing. He was instrumental in the purchase of its Ardee Lighting, Inc. subsidiary, where he subsequently served as vice president, general manager, and helped develop new products.A former Naval officer, Gary Gulden earned an MBA degree from Rutgers University where he graduated with honors, and has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Duke University.
