Philips holds groundbreaking ceremony for LED Professional Lighting Solutions manufacturing facility in Chengdu

Date Announced: 05 Sep 2012 Chengdu, China -- Philips (China) Investment Co., Ltd held the groundbreaking ceremony for its LED Professional Lighting Solutions manufacturing facility in Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which marks the bilateral cooperation between Philips and Chengdu following the LED strategic cooperation agreement made end 2011. Jing Gang, Member of Standing Committee of Chengdu CPC, CPC Secretary of Chengdu High Tech Zone, Dr. Jeroen Lamers, Commercial Counselor of the Netherlands Embassy in China, Tommy Leong, President of Philips Lighting Greater China and She Duanzhi, Head of Public Affairs of Philips Greater China, attended the ceremony.At the ceremony, Jing Gang, Member of Standing Committee of Chengdu CPC extended his congratulations to the groundbreaking of the project on behalf of Chengdu City and the Zone. “Philips is one of the largest electronics companies in the world. He said that Chengdu as Philips’ second headquarters in China, is an important Economic and Cultural Center in the West Region, with its unique advantages in developing high-tech industries and advanced manufacturing industry. Philips will leverage Chengdu’s stimulating role in the Western Area by using its strong innovation, application and customization capabilities in LED lighting resulting in a faster and better service to Western and China’s customers.Philips will build a fully integrated LED Professional Lighting Solutions manufacturing site to optimize the allocation of resources including production, warehousing, and logistics. The site will help to effectively control production efficiency and quality, increase customer responsiveness and shorten delivery response time. It is noteworthy that Philips will focus on providing more customized products to meet unique requirements of different customers with great speed. It will also ensure that Philips, as the world’s leading lighting company, can specifically work with Chinese customers to help them upgrade their lighting in all segments and applications. To this end, Philips will organize a professional service team to ensure the process from design upon a client's request to a final product delivery. It is expected that the site will start production in 2013.Apart from the LED manufacturing site, Philips is going to set up a 10,000sqm Lighting Application Center, which will be the largest lighting application center in Asia and is also the latest and most advanced one in the world. Through the center, Philips will showcase its state-of-the-art lighting technologies, applications and solutions. The center will expose visitors, in live scenes, to experience the leading lighting technologies, concepts and solutions in different segments (such as hotel, shop, office, road and urban). In addition, Philips will practice testing and analysis for new applications here in the center, to enhance its capabilities to provide customers with innovative lighting solutions.
