LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. to convert public lighting in the Dominican Republic to LED

Date Announced: 05 Sep 2012 LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. (LRL) is pleased to announce a contract for the supply of 8,000 energy efficient LED street lighting luminaires in the Dominican Republic. Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Eléctricas Estatales (CDEEE), the Dominican Republic’s state power holding company, began converting its public lighting to energy-saving light-emitting diode (LED) technology in July of this year. Installation is currently underway on major avenues and streets in Santo Domingo and other major urban centres.The CDEEE’s purchase of energy-saving LED luminaires is one of a series of recent investments designed to increase energy efficiency and reduce the burden on the national energy system. CDEEE selected LRL of Canada as the supplier after an international competitive bidding process and an extensive technology evaluation involving several international manufacturers. LRL has a contract to supply LED luminaires that will be installed in the capital of Santo Domingo, as well as other cities.The LED luminaires are expected to provide energy savings of more than 50% when compared to the existing high-pressure sodium luminaires. The Dominican Republic will benefit from immediate energy savings.
