Date Announced: 05 Sep 2012 Sarasota, FL - As democracy goes to work in Tampa from August 27-30 at the Republican National Convention more than 50,000 delegates will be looking for restaurants and pubs for lunches, dinners and meetings. No place is better situated than Tampa's Franklin Street district just a few short steps from the Tampa Convention Center.Many of those delegates will be unaware of the fact that they will be building the Republican platform under some of the world's most efficient LED (light emitting diode) street lighting. The city of Tampa has embarked on a "green" initiative that will help save taxpayers millions in energy costs. The shoe box fixtures are used to boost the lighting in the area and to create an even light distribution in the commercial district."The city is saving over 60% of its energy consumption and costs and the fixtures' 70,000 hour life guarantee a reduction in maintenance and maintenance costs.
