Light-Based Technologies LED Driver achieves UL certification

Sept. 27, 2012
Date Announced: 27 Sep 2012 New Ultra-Compatible (UC) LED Driver begins volume manufacturing. Vancouver, B.C. – Light-Based Technologies (LBT), a leading developer of intelligent power and control electronics for solid state lighting (SSL), has achieved UL Recognized Component Marking for its Ultra-Compatible (UC) Deep Dimming LED Driver allowing the Company to commence volume manufacturing. The UC LED Driver tackles the significant compatibility challenge in both retrofit and new build SSL applications by offering superior compatibility with the widest range of triac dimmers. The UC LED Driver, specified at 25W, with a selectable 700mA or 1000mA constant current output, delivers unsurpassed deep dimming quality and dimmer compatibility, without the flicker and pops associated with other solutions.“We have been very impressed with LBT’s UC LED driver’s unequalled flexibility and great performance,” said Norm David, President of Dasal Architectural Lighting, a British Columbia–based lighting manufacturer. “With this news of UL recognition and volume manufacture, Dasal will be able to offer lighting systems with quality dimming commensurate with our specification-grade product lines.” “The feedback we have received from the industry has been clear: there are no solutions currently available that meet the need for architectural dimming levels or dimmer compatibility. These are the exact challenges we have addressed with the UC LED driver product,” said Art Aylesworth, CEO at LBT. “Through their extensive evaluation, our partners have confirmed that we are delivering best-in-class quality and consistency across the dimming range, and across a variety of dimmers. The UC LED driver is built upon our proprietary firmware platform, delivering superior triac dimming and a broad range of future functionality. LBT’s firmware approach enables faster and more cost effective integration of increasingly complex features and functionality.” With this UL certification and commencement of manufacturing, LBT is now accepting orders, with deliveries beginning in October 2012 visit www.lightbased.comAbout ULUL is a premier global safety science company with more than 100 years of proven history.
