Unique products with distinct features generated positive reviews from potential customers in Europe, laying the strong foundation for POSCO LED, a global LED lighting manufacturer renowned for its industry-leading expertise in industrial LED lighting applications, to expand its presence in Europe.

The company hosted the 2012 POSCO LED Show Case in Europe, a two-day event to showcase its products to European prospects on April 17- 18, 2012, at the Frankfurt Marriott Hotel in Germany, to broaden its customer base in the European market. This is the second time the LED lighting maker has held such a showcase event targeting international customers. The previous showcase event was held in March, last year, in Japan. The company plans to set a series of showcase events around the world including North America.

This time, as many as 150 visitors from about 60 companies attended the event, taking a look at a variety of outdoor and indoor lighting products including industrial LED lighting, the main product family that POSCO LED has emphasized among its portfolio.

More than 50% of the visitors were the end users who can make a buying decision. Notably, those customers with large-scale demand, including chief executives of leading asset and public facility management companies as well as manufacturing facility owners, visited the showcase venue to express their interest in the company’s products and made an agreement to pilot the products at their landmarks in Europe.

It is Bay Light, an industrial LED lighting product developed by POSCO LED with its own technical expertise, which has drawn visitors’ attention most. POSCO LED has built an extensive portfolio of its lighting products supporting a full range of applications from industrial facilities with extreme conditions to large retail stores, differentiating itself from competitors, which usually hold their product families for a limited range of applications. In addition, its ‘Linear Light’, a winner of the “red dot design award”, one of the world’s prestigious design competitions, received greatest attention as it is expected to boost the popularity of LED lights as a replacement for parking lots and commercial areas in Europe, where the increasing demand for LED lights to replace the conventional, less efficient lights have not been fulfilled since few products meet the higher expectations of European customers both in design and in performance.

“Since the European Union’s incandescent light bulb ban policy is expected to raise the adoption of LED lighting in Europe, many LED lighting manufacturers are putting their top priority on the European market. In order to differentiate ourselves against competitors, we need to come up with the so-called ‘selection and concentration’ strategy,” said Kim Sung-min, head of International Sales Team, POSCO LED. “Our main items, such as Bay Light and Linear Light, have shown better merits both in design and in performance than their competitors exhibited at the ‘Light + Building 2012’—an international trade fair for lighting and buildings held in Frankfurt during POSCO LED’s showcase event—receiving favorable reviews at the showcase event enough to reaffirm its world-class competitiveness. We will continue to focus the improvement and enhancements of these products in design and performance in order to firmly establish our leading position in the European market.”
