Upper Chichester Township’s Recreation Center gets new LED light fixtures

Date Announced: 16 Jan 2012 The Client: Upper Chichester Township, located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.Background: Upper Chichester Township’s Recreation Center previously had (90) 400 watt Metal Halide Highbay fixtures illuminating the inside of the Recreation Center. These fixtures consumed 280,868 kWh per year, with energy costs of over $28,600 per year. With the new 143watt Highbay LED fixtures, over $20,400 will be saved annually. Objective: The objective of this lighting project was to enhance the recreation center’s lighting, while reducing energy and maintenance costs and consumption. This would in turn save the township money, time and energy. Challenge: The challenge was trying to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs, while increasing safety and visibility in the recreation building. Resolution: Stouch Lighting was able to provide and install new 143 Watt Highbay LED fixtures to replace the 400 Watt Metal Halide fixtures. The new LED lights provide a brighter, whiter light along with maintenance and energy savings. Outcome: The Township’s Recreation Center’s light levels increased significantly, while energy consumption was reduced by 70%. The LED fixtures have a rated life of over 70,000 hours and a life expectancy of up to 10 years with no lamp or ballast replacement necessary.
