Hubbell expands wiHUBB wireless technology to popular Southwest series

Date Announced: 09 Jan 2012 Greenville, SC – Hubbell Lighting Inc. is proud to announce the expansion of its exclusive wiHUBB® technology in select Southwest® Series products available in both the Hubbell Outdoor and Spaulding Lighting portfolios. As the first in the industry to offer smart lighting fixtures with wireless control technology built-in at the factory, Hubbell continues to expand its wiHUBB offering.The exclusive technology is now available in the Southwest Series, a complete outdoor lighting collection that offers designs inspired by the rugged landscape of the west. Popular fixtures such as Spaulding’s Cimarron LED area light and Tempe and Fresno bollards; Cimarron and Raven electronic HID; and Hubbell Outdoor Laredo LMC LED wallpack are now available with wiHUBB option. Operating in a 900 MHz band, the system’s mesh network signals are able to easily reroute around obstacles. Non-mesh wireless systems cannot. The wiHUBB radios are FCC approved and will not interfere with any other wireless systems. The system uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-128), the same encryption technology utilized by the US government for secure data transmission. The wiHUBB Access Point also uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, the standard for web security authentication.
