Liberty University enlists Daktronics' LED video displays to support athletics and broadcast venues

May 8, 2014
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Liberty University has called on Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., to design, manufacture and install a new LED video display for Liberty Softball Field and another LED display for the school’s TV studio.

“This new 4 millimeter display is absolutely beautiful and will be the centerpiece of our new Liberty Flames Sports Network TV studio. This will serve as the backdrop to our daily sports shows,” said David Diamond, a media technician at Liberty University.

The indoor TV studio LED display measures approximately 8 feet high by 16 feet wide and features exceptionally tight 4 millimeter line spacing. It is capable of highlighting live video and can show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations and sponsor advertisements. The display enhances visibility by incorporating excellent image clarity and contrast at close viewing distances.

The new TV studio set piece will follow a variety of recent Daktronics installations at Liberty University. Liberty has previously installed LED video displays for their basketball arena, baseball facility, football stadium and soccer field. All of these displays were installed within the past two to three years.

“Daktronics is proud to once again partner with Liberty University,” said Matt Braegelmann, Daktronics sales representative. “With the new indoor display being used in a unique setting, I am confident that this will greatly enhance the production and visual appeal of their TV studio.”

The display at Liberty Softball Field will measure approximately 14 feet high by 18 feet wide and feature a 15 HD pixel layout. It will be used to provide live video and replays across the entire display but can also be windowed into smaller sections to provide a combination of statistics, animations and graphics, advertisements, and other game information. This outdoor display will feature impressive image quality while also providing multiple levels of protection from the elements.

“We’re excited to install a new video display for softball at Liberty University,” said Charley Bocklet, Daktronics sales representative. “This display will help enhance the game-day atmosphere at the Liberty Softball Field to create an even greater home field advantage at every game.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
