LAS VEGAS--CES -- EcoHarvester, a Berkeley-based pioneer in energy harvesting, unveiled its BonsaiLight (www.bonsailight.com) switch and LED lamp at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. BonsaiLight eliminates the need for batteries by allowing users to charge and operate electronic devices through their own micro-kinetic energy. BonsaiLight is showcasing its new switch and lamp at Booth 74502, Venetian Level 1 in the Eureka Park area, alongside other projects funded by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“Our products combine patented green technology with world-class design to create a unique, high-quality user experience that lets users switch their minds away from the stresses of modern life by bringing a piece of nature into their home and work spaces.”

"In today's marketplace, consumers are looking for product solutions that are simple in their style and use and also attractive and efficient," said BonsaiLight founder and CEO Dr. Eri Takahashi. "Our products combine patented green technology with world-class design to create a unique, high-quality user experience that lets users switch their minds away from the stresses of modern life by bringing a piece of nature into their home and work spaces."

Because BonsaiLight is based on remote technology, its users can install entire lighting systems in any location without the hassle of rewiring or running power from different locations. Users can operate the switches through smartphones enabled by Bluetooth and other radio-frequency standards. BonsaiLight is developing additional wireless control systems and chargers that can be used in other types of lights and lifestyle accessories. The energy-harvesting mechanisms inside the switches are so thin that many of the company's future products will use form-factor, wall-panel switches that resemble the widely-used rocker switch.
