Hamamatsu offers quick-and-easy solutions for measuring properties of photoluminuescent materials

Date Announced: 04 Jun 2008 -- The C9920 series measures absolute quantum yield, brightness and light distribution, and external quantum efficiency for photoluminescent materials and LEDsBridgewater, New Jersey – June 4, 2008 – Hamamatsu Corporation has introduced systems for measuring properties of photoluminescent materials and LEDs. Depending on the model type, the C9920 series measures the absolute photoluminescence quantum yield of photoluminescent materials (C9920-01 and C9920-02), brightness and light distribution in an LED (C9920-11), and external quantum efficiency of an LED (C9920-12).The relative method currently used to measure the quantum yield of a photoluminescent material is laborious and time-consuming, and it requires a known reference sample of similar properties. Hamamatsu’s C9920-01 and C9920-02 systems offer a quick and easy alternative. These systems are fast, performing measurements in only a few minutes using a multichannel analyzer (essentially a multichannel spectrometer). The C9920-01 and -02 can be used to analyze thin films, powders, and solutions without the need for a reference material. In an industrial or scientific research setting, the C9920-01 and -02 are ideal for analyzing organic and inorganic LED materials, fluorescent probes, quantum dots, and other fluorescent or phosphorescent materials. The C9920-01 and -02 systems feature an efficient and highly-sensitive multichannel analyzer which measures an entire spectrum of wavelengths simultaneously. In addition, they include an integrating sphere, a highly stable xenon light source, and a filter (C9920-01) or monochromator (C9920-02). The C9920-01 has a fixed excitation wavelength at 325 nm while the excitation wavelength can be varied from 250 nm to 800 nm in the C9920-02 model. Photoluminescence measurement software is included for both models. Also available from Hamamatsu are two measurement systems for organic and inorganic LED devices. The C9920-11, which features a rotating stage, measures the brightness and emission distribution in an LED at every angle. The C9920-12 measures the external quantum efficiency of an LED device. Both systems feature a multichannel analyzer and designated analysis software. For more information about the C9920 series, including pricing and delivery time, please call Hamamatsu Corporation at 1-800-524-0504 or visit the company’s website, http://sales.hamamatsu.com.About Hamamatsu CorporationHamamatsu Corporation is the North American subsidiary of Hamamatsu Photonics K.K.
