Date Announced: 23 Sep 2008 North Canton, OH – What better way to kick off a 10-year Anniversary than with a new LED center-hung scoreboard and 360° ring of LED fascia. This upgrade takes the Schottenstein Center to the next level.LSI was pleased to provide all of the Smartvision® LED video displays and Texas Star Sports spearheaded the design, construction and installation of these systems. “We are excited to be part of this project working in conjunction with LSI LED Displays, showcasing their SMARTVISION® LED Technology” said Gary Waldrum, President of Texas Star Sports. The multi-million dollar project at the Schottenstein Center commenced in mid July and was officially unveiled on September 10th to the media, athletics department and student life staff. This installation employs the latest state of the art LED system and video processing technology. The upgradeability and long life of LSI’s SMARTVISION® display systems has been a hallmark of its quality that allows our clients to get long term use out of their displays. “The technology that has been installed is more advanced than what is currently utilized in most NBA arenas,” said David Watroba, Director of LED Video Displays for LSI Industries. He continues, “This installation will raise the bar in collegiate sports and will be a showcase for all to see.”The center-hung structure will captivate the arena by displaying high-resolution video through 341 trillion colors on four SMARTVISION® (9' x 16') 6mm displays, eight SMARTVISION® (6' x 10') 10mm virtual scoring/advertising matrix displays and two SMARTVISION® 16.5mm LED “rings” that will highlight the middle and bottom of the structure. The center-hung will come alive when all the video screens are animated delivering vibrant in-game visuals, such as team animations, real-time statistics, advertisements, live action video and replays.In addition to the new center-hung scoreboard, LSI also provided a 360° ring of LED fascia. The entire second level façade is wrapped in 970 linear feet of SMARTVISION® 20mm LED ribbon. This fascia will engage the fans with advertisements and crowd prompts such as “make noise” or “defense”.
