RSoft Design Group Introduces Photonic Component Design Suite 8.1

Aug. 7, 2008
Date Announced: 07 Aug 2008 -- New Version Features an Updated Material Editor with Solar Cell and Multiphysics Utilities.August 6, 2008 – Ossining, NY – RSoft Design Group, the leading company in photonic design automation software is pleased to introduce the RSoft Photonic Component Design Suite 8.1, boasting many new features including an updated Material Editor and database, a Solar Cell Utility, and a Multi-Physics Utility that can include effects from electrodes, heaters, stress, and carrier effects. These new features and options will greatly enhance photonic design applications, including emerging photovoltaic thin film and polymer technologies.A significant highlight of the Component Design Suite is an updated Material Editor and database where complex material models can be created. The database contains several useful built-in materials, but also allows users to add custom user-defined materials. These materials can be shared between multiple design files and different users to further simplify the design process.Version 8.1 includes several new additional utilities such as a Solar Cell Utility, which simplifies the design and optimization of solar cell geometries. The simulation of the absorption spectra of the device is performed either with RSoft Design Group's FullWAVE or DiffractMOD simulation packages. The new utility computes deviceperformance information such as J-V curves, quantum efficiency vs. wavelength, shadowing, and overall cell efficiency. Other new options include a new Multi-Physics Utility that incorporates the effects of electrodes, heaters, stress, and carrier effects on the refractive index profile used in simulation. Each of these utilities can be obtained separately. Please contact RSoft Design Group for further details.“With the new RSoft Component Design Suite 8.1, RSoft is on the cutting edge of the demands of the optoelectronic industry,” states Robert Scarmozzino, CEO RSoft Design Group. “Our dedication to providing the latest design and simulation software to manufacturers is certainly demonstrated with this latest release and we will continue to be instrumental to the design process, especially the fast moving photovoltaic industry where research and development is critical to the global environment and economy.”
