GrafMat fine graphite fiber powder is now available in shorter average fiber lengths

Feb. 24, 2011
Date Announced: 24 Feb 2011 FiberGraf Materials now can offer GrafMat in 25 micron average particle lengths. The new product has been named GrafMat A25. This is a significant reduction in average particle length from our 50 micron product GrafMat A50. A number of FiberGraf users have asked for a smaller particle length product for a number of reasons including approved surface finish, higher fiber loading and enhanced electrical / thermal performance. This particle size is ideal where micro-crazing in resin systems can be an issue. Superior surface finishes and high content loading are also possible with GrafMat A25 to aid in electrically conductive surfaces. This material is developed from a high grade PAN-based carbon fiber and graphitized resin system that has been processed into a powder format. The short length makes the product feel as if it were a dust type consistency.GrafMat has been available for years in three larger particulate sizes of 50 micron, 275 micron and 500 micron for complete loading control. This material is specifically engineered for demanding environments such as fuel cells and other high performance applications. Characteristics of all GrafMat fiber types include a 750°F high thermal oxidation resistance, very good thermal conductivity of 40 W/ m-K, excellent chemical durability and creep resistance. The entire range of GrafMat materials have proven to exhibit excellent mold ability with no noticeable shedding.
