Worldwide patent disputes commenced between Seoul Semiconductor and Philips

Date Announced: 09 May 2011 -- Seoul Semiconductor announces that it has instituted actions to enforce its LED patents against Philips in Germany and Korea-- The company intends to vigorously defend the U.S. patent infringement action brought by Philips that are limited to a handful of Seoul Semiconductor productsSeoul, South Korea -- Seoul Semiconductor today announces that it has initiated two actions asserting claims of patent infringement against Philips, the first of which was filed in Germany in March and the second of which was filed in Korea in May.As reported in LEDs Magazine (May 4), Philips has also filed an action alleging in its complaint that a limited number of Seoul Semiconductor products infringe certain of Philips’ patents. Seoul Semiconductor respects the intellectual property rights of others and believes that its products do not infringe Philips’ patents.
