May 26, 2011
Date Announced: 26 May 2011 BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting Inc., has added a new surface cylinder design to its family of Essentia architectural interior LED luminaires. With multiple distributions and near 5,000 lumens delivered, this best-in-class luminaire will join the full line of recessed downlights recently on display at LIGHTFAIR® International in Philadelphia, May 17 to 19 at the Philadelphia Convention Center – Booth #2709.“We’re excited to expand our Essentia product line to include a new design option that fills a market niche previously underserved by LED technology,” said Christopher Ruud, president of Ruud Lighting. “Lighting designers now have the opportunity to illuminate spaces using beautiful architectural light blending with the LED benefits of high performance and flexibility.” Essentia surface cylinder luminaires feature a state-of-the-art flow-through design with an integrated heat sink to ensure cool operation that optimizes performance. The 10-inch diameter by 20-inch high luminaire can be configured with 28, 42 or 56 LEDs with optics that maximize light delivered through the aperture. Standard color temperatures include 2700K; 3000K; 3500K; and 4000K. With a market-leading 2-Step MacAdam’s Ellipse maximum variance from initial color point at L70 (for all color temperatures), lighting designers can be confident in color point stability, insuring not only color quality throughout the life of the application, but also the design integrity of a project that can sometimes be lost with relamping. The traditionally styled line of luminaires delivers efficient light on target with BetaLED’s patented NanoOptic® product technology for precise optical control. The results are superior illumination and energy-efficient performance with high lumens per watt on target.Features of the Essentia surface cylinder luminaire include:• Wide, medium and narrow distributions• Standard 0 to 10 volt dimming to five percent power • 45 degree cut-off• L70 of greater than 50,000 hours
