Salish Lodge & Spa completes lighting project with Seattle LED

April 28, 2011
Date Announced: 28 Apr 2011 Snoqualmie, WA – Salish Lodge & Spa has completed an extensive lighting project with Seattle LED. Through the replacement of incandescent PAR, MR-16 and A19 lamps with LED, Salish is expected to save 75,083 kilowatt hours a year and reduce annual electricity costs by $6,073. Seattle LED worked closely with the Engineering Department at the lodge to provide demonstration lamps and ensure that proper color temperature was specified and that light levels would be maintained. Only lamps that had undergone rigorous third party testing and could qualify for incentive funding from the local utility were selected for use in this project. Including incentive funding the project has an energy savings based return on investment of just 16 months. In addition to saving energy, Salish is also expected to realize tremendous maintenance savings. LED lamps provide effective lighting levels even after 50,000 hours of use which is approximately ten times the life of incandescent products. Long lamp life is particularly beneficial in areas of the lodge that are difficult to access, such as high ceilings or stairwells that require scaffolding to replace burned out incandescent bulbs. In March 2010, Salish launched new green initiatives across the property as part of the Greening Washington’s Lodging Industry year-long pilot program, spearheaded by the Washington Lodging Association and funded by a Public Participation Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology. As part of their ongoing commitment toward environmental stewardship, additional energy conservation considerations are being reviewed by the lodge. Seattle LED is proud to have assisted Salish Lodge & Spa in becoming one of the first lodging facilities in the Pacific Northwest to realize the unprecedented green benefits of LED lighting.About Salish Lodge & Spa:Consistently ranked among the best small resorts in the world, the AAA Four Diamond Salish Lodge & Spa overlooks the 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls.
