Seoul Semiconductor achieves ISO/IEC 17025 certification for test and measurement of chip and packaged LEDs

July 28, 2011
Date Announced: 28 Jul 2011 Seoul Semiconductor, a leading global LED manufacturer, announced its recent accreditation for Test and Measurement Certification to ISO/IEC 17025 within the scope of IES LM-80-08 “Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources”. The accreditation was awarded earlier this month by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS). This accreditation demonstrates Seoul Semiconductors commitment to providing high quality LEDs with proven reliability and lumen maintenance to its customers. The certification gives added credibility to the LM-80 testing and test reports which Seoul Semiconductor provides for each of its products targeted toward the general illumination market. The company has been performing LM-80 tests on its packaged LED devices for several years and announced in February its addition to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s list of recognized laboratories for conducting LM-80 testing of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The listing can be found on the EPA website under the topic “EPA-Recognized Laboratories for Luminaires and Certified Lighting Subcomponents”. Manuel Zarauza, vice-president of Seoul Semiconductor said, “Achieving IES 17025 certification is important to fulfilling Seoul Semiconductor’s commitments to providing accurate and qualified testing results to our customers in the general lighting market.” He added, “As a leader in LED manufacturer, we must set a good example to the solid state lighting community in complying with the industry standards and government regulations that help speed LED adoption”.
