Studiotech launches new Green Moth street lighting at White Rose Shopping Centre

Oct. 18, 2011
Date Announced: 18 Oct 2011 Studiotech, a member of the IBT Group based in Bredbury, has just completed their largest installation to date, which is also the launch of their new, innovative Green Moth Clearwing streetlight, in a specific area of the car park at White Rose shopping centre in Leeds intended to enhance the parking facilities for hundreds of visitors. The centre is owned and operated by Land Securities, the UK’s largest commercial property company, who are totally committed to saving energy and reducing their carbon footprint throughout their entire property portfolio. They challenged Studiotech to provide an efficient and effective lighting solution capable of surpassing the stringent, validation process demanded by them. The Green Moth streetlighting specified by Studiotech uses less than 30% of the energy of a traditional sodium lamp and has a life span of up to 50,000 hours. The lamps are functional and aesthetically pleasing on the eye, giving excellent colour rendition, providing high definition for CCTV’s, road users and pedestrians.Studiotech have installed a total of 74 Clearwing lamps in the first phase of this project. The fitting installed is a Green Moth Clearwing 60w LED street lantern that has replaced the existing 150w SON T lamps. The new fittings were an easy retrofit to the existing columns and because of the simplicity of the new luminaire we were able to utilise all the existing wiring etc which means that the overall project cost could be kept well within the available budget and the energy savings will provide return on investment within a period of two years. In addition, the lanterns were installed by Studiotech’s own engineers over a seven day period with minimal disruption to the centres operation and car park users alike.Tim Ashley, Divisional Manager of Studiotech, says “there are a lot of LED lighting products available on the market today, some good, some not so good and because of the lack of legislation of LED product it is difficult to differentiate between the two. I now believe that the new range of Green Moth LED streetlighting, floodlighting and industrial high bay lighting provides Studiotech the opportunity to offer high quality, highly efficient luminaires at very competitive prices to their clients. The new range of Green Moth products not only enhances the environment for the tenants and customers but gives a potential return on investment period that makes for compelling business cases.”
