Recolight welcomes 100th member

Date Announced: 13 Sep 2011 Recolight, the specialist WEEE compliance scheme for Gas Discharge Lamps, has today welcomed its 100th lamp producer member. Recolight represents a diverse range of producers, importers and own branders of lamps in the UK covering a range of industries from the large manufacturers through to LED producers and niche lighting providers for sunbeds and fish-tanks. Frank Craven, Recolight’s Membership Development Manager, said: “LED manufacturers and producers have accounted for a large number of our new members. The technology for lamp manufacturing continues to advance and LEDs in particular are an ever expanding area. Through constantly tracking technological advancements and keeping up to date with all the changes in the industry, we can ensure that the quality and scale of the service we offer matches what manufacturers, producers and importers are looking for in a compliance scheme.”Nigel Harvey, Recolight’s Chief Executive, said: “100 members is a real testament to the success that Recolight has achieved during 2011. Recolight was established by the UK lamp producers who account for a significant share of the UK market. Its members are producers and importers of WEEE who put new lamps on the market for the first time in the UK, and are therefore obliged to comply with the WEEE Regulations. Recolight offers specialist lamp recycling services, advice and support to help all parties in the supply chain recycle their lamps as simply and efficiently as possible.
