Pro-Lite introduces Ocean Optics Torus spectrometer

Sept. 12, 2011
Date Announced: 12 Sep 2011 Ocean Optics’ UK lighting channel partner Pro-Lite has announced the release of the Torus, a miniature spectrometer tuned for the visible wavelength range (360-825 nm) which features an extremely low level of stray light (0.03% at 400 nm) which makes it ideal for measuring the intensity and colour of LEDs as well as other light sources. Its increased sensitivity and throughput also make is perfect for low light level applications. The Torus delivers scientific-grade performance with outstanding thermal stability, making is a smart choice for a wide range of otherwise challenging light measurement applications. The Torus uses a variable line spacing diffraction grating with a 550 grooves per mm groove density at its centre and a nominal blaze wavelength of 400 nm. This design yields an optical bench in which light can be manipulated more efficiently. The concave holographic grating also helps to improve the thermal stability of the Torus. Wavelength drift is nearly eliminated and peak spectral shape stays the same over a wide temperature range. As a result, the Torus is well suited to precision metrology, fluorescence and absorbance applications all of which demand low stray light and high thermal stability. The Torus spectrometer is the perfect solution for a wide range of applications where low stray light, high throughput and thermal stability are necessary. As the Ocean Optics channel partner specialising in light measurement, Pro-Lite is able to configure the Torus as part of a modular spectrometer systems with the flexibility to measure the spectroradiometric, photometric & colorimetric output of light sources as well as the optical properties of materials - spectral reflectance, transmittance, absorbance and colour.Web link: http://www.pro-lite.co.uk/File/uses_for_a_spectrometer.php
