InnoLas introduces automatic machine-readable LED wafer marking

Sept. 6, 2011
Date Announced: 06 Sep 2011 The identification markings on sapphire-based LED wafers rarely conform to SEMI standards. This causes problems in the traceability as well as in the quality in production. InnoLas Semiconductor GmbH solves this problem with its powerful marking, reading and sorting systems which are able to cope with all SEMI standard fonts as well as OCR, 2-D cell code and barcode. Four of the most compact system, the IL 1000, are currently being built for a Chinese LED wafer producer. The fully automatic systems process a cassette with up to 25 wafers, thereby compensating for position errors in real time. In order to ensure to one hundred percent that the polished side of the wafers remains free from damage they are only handled on the unpolished side and during the process flipped over twice. The system then reaches a throughput of 110 wafers per hour. In this way InnoLas assists the manufacturer of LED wafers to achieve the highest quality standards and accelerates the production process.
