Date Announced: 06 Sep 2011 TWP's 6W GLS bulb has been approved to carry the Energy Saving Trust Recommended logo. The lamp performs like an incandescent bulb but uses 85% less energy and boasts the long lifetime of a standard LED lamp. The product comes with a three-year warranty, guaranteeing its lifetime usage.TCP was awarded the certification after the lamp was tested to check its energy consumption, how long it would last, its quality of light, packaging information and safety.+++Press Release+++The new LED 6 Watt GLS bulb from Technical Consumer Products (TCP) has been awarded the Energy Saving Trust’s stamp of approval – becoming the first-ever 6 Watt GLS LED lamp to carry the Energy Saving Trust Recommended logo in recognition for its energy efficiency and product quality. Using 85% less energy, the lamp performs like a standard incandescent bulb – producing great quality light with instant switch on to immediately light up a room. The long lifetime LED lamp lasts for 25,000 hours – backed up by TCP’s three-year warranty guaranteeing its lifetime usage. The lamp itself actually exceeds current Energy Using Products Directive (EUP) standards.Exclusive to all TCP’s LED lighting range, the lamp uses the company's own bLEnD technology so that the LED only produces the same great warm white light as an incandescent, and has excellent colour rendering. Completely patented, all the components and design are fully owned by TCP, and its patented technology solves the shortcomings that most LEDs suffer from – cold light and colour mixing producing a greenish tinged light.Thomas Luecke, Managing Director for TCP in the UK, said: “Despite being a well-established name in the US, TCP has only been open for business in the UK and Europe for less than a year. As a result, we consider this recommendation a major result especially as it was one of our key goals when opening the UK office. “We can now help our UK customers help their customers save energy and money – with the Energy Saving Trust recommendation bringing with it energy efficiency funding so that retailers can pass direct savings on to the customer through the reduced cost of the lamp. Homebase is our first retail customer to come on-board to stock the TCP LED 6 Watt GLS lamp, and we are looking forward to rolling out the lamp across our retail and wholesale customer base.” TCP was awarded Energy Saving Trust Recommended certification after its LED lamp was independently tested to check its energy consumption, how long it would last, its quality of light, packaging information and safety. TCP passed all the strict energy efficiency criteria laid down by the Energy Saving Trust, and the organisation’s standards for quality and manufacturing facilities too. Antoinette de la Motta, Business Marketing Manager for the Energy Saving Trust Recommended scheme, concluded: “Lack and quality of light compared to a standard bulb can be off-putting to a customer looking to switch to LED lighting. However, when buying lighting with an Energy Saving Trust Recommended logo, they can be confident that as well as significant energy savings, they also get a comparable light. “It’s great news that thanks to TCP’s energy efficiency and product quality, customers now have more choice and can save energy and move to LED lighting without having to compromise on light quality.”For further information on the LED 6 Watt GLS lamp from TCP and their full LED lighting range, visit http://www.tcpi.eu/product/group/led.Visit http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Find-Energy-Saving-Trust-Recommended-Products/browse/lighting/led-lamps to see Energy Saving Trust Recommended LED lamps.
