Date Announced: 04 Feb 2013 OSRAM SYLVANIA Subsidiary Helped Businesses Save Over 1.8 Million Kilowatt HoursNorth American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA announced SYLVANIA Lighting Services (SLS), a subsidiary of OSRAM SYLVANIA and leader in lighting installation and energy management solutions, was recognized by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as the top Preferred Partner in the Southeast territory for saving energy over a 12 month period. TVA, a corporation owned by the United States government, provides electricity for business customers and distribution utilities that serve 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. SLS helped business customers throughout the region save 1,883,305 kilowatt hours as a result of its expertise and energy-efficient lighting solutions. “Every single day, SYLVANIA Lighting Services is focused on helping businesses save energy and money,” said Graham Wark, vice president of SYLVANIA Lighting Services, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “This award recognizes the hard work of our dedicated lighting experts who go above and beyond for our customers and I am very proud of this recognition.” “SYLVANIA Lighting Services has been a very active partner with our EnergyRight® Solutions for Business and Industry Programs. These programs are offered in partnership with our local power companies,” said Bob Balzar, vice president of Energy Efficiency and Demand Response, TVA. “TVA is pleased to have professional partners like SYLVANIA Lighting Services implementing energy savings across the valley which earned them with the 2012 Most kWh saved in the Southeast District award.” “TVA energy efficiency initiatives in 2012 saved enough energy to power more than 35,000 Tennessee Valley homes for a year. The programs reduced electric power usage by 560 gigawatt-hours for the second straight year, exceeded TVA’s annual energy efficiency goals for the fifth year in a row, and raised total energy savings to more than 1,600 gigawatt-hours since 2007,” said Balzar. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development.
