Date Announced: 13 May 2013 DONCASTER, UK, May 13, 2013 – Cooper Lighting and Safety, a business unit of diversified power management company Eaton, today introduced Velos, its newest suite of indoor emergency exit signs. Velos uses cutting edge materials, coupled with an LED light source to provide a functional, stylish and compliant emergency exit sign range. “The introduction of our new line of Velos emergency exit signs provides our end users with an energy efficient solution to emergency exit signage,” said James Beresford, Product Marketing Manager for Emergency Lighting, at Cooper Lighting and Safety. “Beyond just savings, these products also allow for a reduction in maintenance and are compliant to the latest standards.” Velos is ideal for a wide range of uses, including commercial, office, retail and education applications. It offers an overall reduced cost of ownership, featuring an LED lifetime rated up to 60,000 hours, as well as reduced energy consumption and decreased maintenance costs. Additionally, all Velos products meet European Standard (EN)1838, providing superior luminance across the face of the legend for improved visibility in low light situations. The Velos product line also offers a simple modular design allowing for a variety of mounting options without affecting functionality. In addition, it also includes an adjustable brightness function of 50 percent in maintained operation, making it an ideal solution for cinema and theatre applications.Featuring environmentally friendly nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries, Velos is available in self-contained, 230 volt (V) slave and Easicheck 2 variants. Additional options include, ISO7010 or European-format pictograms, and 30 or 40 metre viewing distance options to suit project requirements. Velos is easy to install with no need for specialist tools and mounting options that include recessed, ceiling mount, suspended and lateral. Velos also monitors the LED’s light source and upon the unlikely event of an LED failure, the remaining light output is increased to maintain luminance.
