Date Announced: 10 Apr 2013 BROOKINGS, S.D. – Apr. 10, 2013 – This offseason, in addition to renovations taking place in the outfield, the San Diego Padres enhanced Petco Park by adding LED display technology designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D. When games in San Diego continued on April 9, fans experienced a new outfield fence display and a new ribbon display during game day. “We are pleased to have been able to work with Daktronics to offer our fans two new electronic enhancements,” said Padres Director, Entertainment & Production Erik Meyer. “Adding color LED boards in the right field wall and upper right fascia will allow for a higher level of fan engagement with added statistics, crowd prompts, player and team animations, and new, detailed out-of-town scoring information.”The outfield fence display, located in right field, provides the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events, and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information. The display features a 20 millimeter pixel layout and measures 7 feet tall by 105 feet wide. The ribbon display will curve around the fascia of the upper deck seating area in right field to provide many opportunities for additional content, primarily up-to-the-minute scores and information from other games in progress. It features a 20 millimeter pixel layout and measures 6 feet tall and stretches 192 feet long.The display upgrades come at the heels of an overall outfield construction project. The project includes moving portions of Petco Park’s right field fence 11 feet closer to home plate and lowering the fence to match the eight-foot height in left field and center field. Additionally, portions of the left center field fence were moved in 12 feet.
