The 6 millimeter centerhung display configuration will be in the upper echelon of overall display size in the professional sports realm, ensuring the amazement and enjoyment of Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth fans, alike. “We are excited to bring a new standard of excellence to our fans’ experience when attending events at Pepsi Center,” said Josh Kroenke, president of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. “The new scoreboard, sound system and the technological improvements that come with each installation will provide fans with one of the best audiovisual presentations in all of sports.”The centerhung contains two main video displays, each measuring 27 feet high by nearly 48 feet wide (1,248 x 2208 pixels) and featuring 6 millimeter line spacing. These displays will face the wide sides of the arena as they display live and recorded video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, sponsor messages and more. The tight 6 millimeter line spacing provides high contrast for vibrant, detailed images. At the ends of the rectangular centerhung structure, Daktronics is installing two video displays measuring nearly 21 feet high by 25 feet wide and featuring the same 6 millimeter line spacing. These displays will provide complimentary video and statistical information to the fans on the ends of the arena to give every fan in every seat the same visual experience. The centerhung is raised and lowered using a custom-designed, permanently-installed 70,000-pound capacity hoist system from Daktronics. This system, which incorporates the latest in hoisting technology and safety, will be used to support the display at varying elevations depending on the arena’s needs. The entire arena will have LED displays in every direction fans look, starting with eight ribbon displays measuring 2 feet high by 57 feet wide, all featuring 15 millimeter line spacing, placed strategically along the fascia of the seating levels. Another 10 auxiliary displays will be installed above entrances to the seating sections and in other areas of the arena. The ribbon and auxiliary displays provide the opportunity to showcase sponsor throughout events as well as showing up-to-the-minute statistics and other game information.“We’re confident that the equipment we are providing to Pepsi Center will greatly enhance the fan experience of a premier in-door venue for professional sports,” said Jay Parker, Daktronics sales manager. “The new centerhung display system will increase the excitement level and game-day atmosphere that lends to an improved home-team advantage. The equipment as a whole will raise the venue to the cutting-edge of technology and provide all the necessities that are expected at today’s professional sporting events.”Daktronics will also be including its powerful Show Control System with this installation.
