Louisiana Tech University to Install Daktronics integrated video and scoring display system

Date Announced: 31 Oct 2013

BROOKINGS, S.D. - When Louisiana Tech University Bulldog and Lady Techster fans return to Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, La., they will be greeted with a new centerhung LED video display system from Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D.

The installation scheduled for this October includes four video displays and two ring displays in the centerhung and two floor level video displays at each end of the arena.

“There is tremendous excitement among our student-athletes, donors and fan-base about our new video board, The Paul Millsap Vision presented by Community Trust Bank,” said Brian White, associate athletic director – external affairs for Louisiana Tech University. “We believe there will be substantial benefits for our revenue generation and in-game promotions efforts.”

The four main centerhung displays will each feature 10 millimeter line spacing and measure more than 7 feet high by 11 feet wide. They will be capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays, but can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.

Above the main displays will be a ring display measuring 2 feet high by 61 feet wide. Below the main displays will be another ring display measuring 2 feet high by 46 feet wide. Each ring display features 15 millimeter line spacing.

Additionally, two floor level displays will be installed at each end of the arena. These displays feature 15 millimeter line spacing and measure more than 3 feet high by 11 feet wide.

The ring and floor level displays will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

All of the displays being installed will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility enabling fans of the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters to be fully included in the game-day action.

Daktronics will also be including its powerful Show Control System with this installation. This industry-leading system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution. In addition to the equipment installation, Louisiana Tech will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the university.
