Date Announced: 18 Jan 2013 LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. (LRL) is pleased to announce a major LED street lighting award in the City of Sudbury, Ontario. Located approximately 440 km (273 miles) north of Toronto, Sudbury is the largest city in northern Ontario, with a population of more than 180,000.The award comes on the heels of the City of Greater Sudbury Council approving a project to convert 1,315 High Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures to LED in order to take advantage of Greater Sudbury Hydro's Street Light Conversion Incentive Program approved by the Ontario Energy Board. Greater Sudbury Hydro Plus Inc (GSHPI), on behalf of the City of Greater Sudbury, conducted a tendering process which included commercial and technical evaluation components. The tender was awarded to Guillevin International, who will supply the LRL Satellite™ Series LED street light fixtures to GSHPI. The current award calls for the supply of approximately 1,700 fixtures between now and July of 2013. GSHPI had previously installed approximately 500 LRL fixtures in various locations throughout the city. The City of Greater Sudbury will study this sampling strategy closely with the notion of anticipation to convert all existing high pressure sodium street lights in the city to LED technology over a ten year period. With more than 14,000 street lights in the city, energy savings of 61% will be achieved (or about 154,458 kWh per year). In addition to the energy and maintenance savings that will result, a complete conversion to LED will provide greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of approximately 1,552 tons per year.About LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.
