Date Announced: 21 Mar 2013 ATLANTA – Whitehead Energy Solutions, an Atlanta-based electrical manufacturer’s representative, announces it is incorporating the latest LED technology to illuminate billboards. Whitehead offers an LED billboard lighting fixture that completely illuminates an entire sign, from corner to corner, which is a vast improvement over the HID technology currently used on billboards. The technology enhances energy efficiency while also making the billboards more crisp and visible at night. Lighting Technologies has specifically designed its optics to prevent hot spots, dark spots and scalloping. One fixture can be set to run at 50 watts, 75 watts or 100 watts to prevent wasting light and energy. The fixture is Design Lights Consortium (DLC) approved at all power levels and eligible for utility rebates.“Our solution will save money every month while increasing the quality of a billboard to attract customers,” said Jim Colantoni, national accounts, outside sales at Whitehead Energy Solutions. “The more visible a sign, the more likely it is to get a reaction. Our product makes a billboard pop, increasing visibility at night while reducing the impact on the bottom line through better efficiency.”Regardless of the power level, significant energy savings are incurred by cutting power consumption by about 80 percent in most cases. The yearly savings on a billboard with four fixtures could amount to $600 to $1,000 depending on cost per kilowatt. These savings are solely based on energy costs reductions and do not include the reduced maintenance costs from the extended life of the LED fixtures.Energy savings are not the only benefit of Lighting Technologies’ LED fixtures.
