Designed for applications requiring stable high light intensity, high resolution and operational reliability
(Vienna/Boston: in-vision.at) While 4K DLP projectors have been around for quite some time, the DLP chipset used in these systems was not offering the performance that In-Vision wanted to bring to the AM market. “We had tested 4K projectors on our test rigs and had observed a lot of stuck pixels and a significant drop in light intensity already after hundreds of hours of operation” explains Christof Hieger, CTO at In-Vision. “Our DLP projectors maintain a stable high intensity for more than 10,000 hours of operation, and they’re designed to avoid unusual damages to the DMD, so our customers can trust their reliability in the field. That’s why we waited for the industrial version of the chipset to launch our own version of the 4K projector for Additive Manufacturing”. Phoenix is the first system based on Texas Instruments’ DLP670S chipset – and it already passed a FIELD TEST in comparison with the consumer version of the DMD.
Superior optical performance
“We are constantly striving to improve the optics on our projectors, especially the light transmission, because the light intensity is very critical for our customers” says Florian Zangerl, CEO of the Company. “I have to admit that I’m proud of what we achieved with Phoenix”. The new Light Engine offers up to 6.5W of output power, which is remarkably higher than other 4K UV projectors on the market.
Designed for high reliability
“Reliability is a key focus area for us”, emphasizes Florian Zangerl, CEO. “Our projectors are a key component of 3D-printers spread out in production facilities, labs and R&D departments around the globe. Our goal is to remove maintenance headaches for our customers: We make sure that our light engines provide the same light quality print after print over several years of operation, so our customers don’t have to worry about anything else than the regular LED replacement”.
High performance at a competitive price
Phoenix’s higher performance doesn’t come at a higher price point than other systems, making it very attractive for system builders. The pre-series units are currently being tested by a customer. The first serial units will be available mid-May with a 385nm LED and a 76.5 μm lens. The 405nm version will be available shortly thereafter. Other lenses can be designed and produced on-demand.
