Now Launching: Belt by the Bouroullecs for Flos

Nov. 23, 2020

Balancing the softness and flexibility of natural leather with the architectural rigidity of aluminum, Belt is a new lighting system by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec that gently curves & suspends from above. Each element of the design is controlled by leather straps. Some of them support the weight of the system, some carry electricity and some contain light.

"The leather is a key for Belt, it has some freedom, but also a certain stiffness, that makes the line harmonious." -- Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Inspired by the accessory with the same name, Belt is a fashionable take on architectural lighting and can be adjusted by sliding the leather straps through dedicated metal buckles that act as ceiling hooks. The light source shines up and down from Belt’s edge and its wires and electrical components are encased and hidden throughout the design. Finishes include: black, green and natural leather.

This new system is available to buy on usa.flos.com, making it easy for interior designers and customers to incorporate architectural lighting into residential projects - something Flos USA has been seeing more of as people upgrade their homes to suit new uses and more time spent in them. Of course, for larger commercial projects, architects can specify through the Flos Architectural team.
