HortiCann Light + Tech virtual conference logs a 94% satisfaction rate amongst attendees

Nov. 10, 2020
The first virtual HortiCann Light + Tech conference closed with a high level of satisfaction from surveyed attendees.

TULSA, OK Endeavor Business Media and the HortiCann Light + Tech conference team are pleased to announce the results of the first-ever virtual event, held live on October 2021, 2020 in an online format due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was made in June to move to a virtual platform for the 2020 HortiCann Light + Tech conference after much deliberation. Emphasis was maintained on delivering the latest advances in horticultural and AgTech research, strategies for successful implementation of LED-based solid-state lighting (SSL) and associated systems and controls, and product developments and application examples that help operations to increase plant yields, improve quality, and leverage cost savings.

Speakers unveiled new perspectives on plant response to horticultural SSL, how to integrate multiple AgTech systems for optimal cost and performance ratios, how standards and metrics can guide product/systems specification, and more. At the close of the virtual event, the conference team launched an audience survey, which revealed exciting results for future event planning. More than 2100 people have registered for the event, and the number continues to climb with the program accessible on demand for a limited time. The survey highlighted that:

  • 94% of attendees were satisfied with the virtual event
  • The Keynote by Professor Bruce Bugbee of Utah State University was the highest-rated session, ranked “very good” to “excellent” by 89% of those surveyed
  • 54% of registrants attended more than half of the scheduled sessions
  • More than half of attendees surveyed came to find new technology solutions (67%) and plan to look into solutions from sponsors (69%)

“Our team worked quickly and diligently to pivot what had been planned as an in-person event on location in San Jose, CA, working with speakers, sponsors, and our digital operations specialists to bring this event to fruition online,” said Steve Beyer, vice president and group publisher of the Lighting & Technology group at Endeavor Business Media. “We credit the agility and flexibility of all those involved in helping to maximize this learning opportunity for all.”

The annual conference is expected to be held again virtually in October 2021, as the conference team and management stays abreast of guidance on travel and in-person events. 2021 program announcements, including the Call for Abstracts, will be forthcoming. Visit the HortiCann Light + Tech conference virtual event website to take advantage of the current on-demand programming and resources until January 2021.
