Leotek’s ComfortGuide™ Architectural Site and Area Light is engineered to address concerns about discomfort glare.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Leotek Electronics has introduced its ComfortGuide™ Architectural Site and Area Light, engineered to reduce discomfort glare and provide enhanced visual comfort.

Arieta® ComfortGuide™ is perfectly suited for parking lots, campuses, office complexes, streets and public parks, as well as many other applications for which glare is an important consideration. ComfortGuide™ utilizes a new LED technology to address glare in relation to traditional LED lighting. First-generation LED optical systems incorporate a single optical lens over the LED. The unique optical system in ComfortGuide™ incorporates a proprietary internal refraction system which eliminates the visible point source and provides a uniform plane of light which reduces glare and maximizes visual comfort.

According to both the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Illumination Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), glare can cause visual discomfort for residents, pedestrians, and motorists alike. ComfortGuide’s patented edge-lit panel is fully sealed and engineered to create uniform source luminance.

“Municipalities and businesses are becoming more aware of the issues associated with discomfort glare and have been seeking appropriate solutions”, says Thor Scordelis, Leotek General Manager . “ComfortGuide achieves these objectives and creates a more pleasant ambience while providing the energy and cost savings that these customers expect.”   ComfortGuide’s technology, is available in Leotek’s Arieta Area Light, and customers can select from three different color temperatures, 2700K, 3000K, and 4000K, and from Type 2, Type 3, and Type 5 lighting distributions. ComfortGuide also complies with dark sky objectives set forth by the International Dark Sky Association.
