Shanghai International Lighting Fair 2020 to merge with Guangzhou edition

July 24, 2020
Following the postponement of the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition to 30 September – 3 October 2020, the organiser of both fairs has announced that the Shanghai International Lighting Fair will now merge with the Guangzhou event for 2020.

Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd explained: “Given that we had to postpone the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition from its original June date to the end of September, meaning both fairs would have been within one month of each other, we believe it will be more beneficial for our exhibitors, visitors and other supporters to participate in the one, larger event. By merging the two fairs, the industry can focus their resources and energy on this one event, which will now have a more diverse profile allowing for greater business opportunities. With this change and our other efforts, we are doing all we can to support the industry to reconnect in person and facilitate in-depth communication.”

“As this year is the fair’s 25th edition we are determined to make it a successful one for all participants,” Ms Wong continued. “We are also eager to offer the sector a chance to discover the new opportunities this challenge has presented, with the latest products and technologies set to be on offer at the fair.”

The 25th edition of the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition will take place from 30 September – 3 October. It will be held alongside the Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology fair at the China Import and Export Fair Complex.

Messe Frankfurt’s other Shanghai technology fairs are due to go ahead as planned from 2 – 4 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. They are Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology, Shanghai Smart Home Technology and Parking China.

The company’s Light + Building Technology fairs are headed by the biennial Light + Building event. The next edition will take place from 13 ‒ 18 March 2022 in Frankfurt, Germany.
