Cree Lighting 3D Prints Personal Protective Equipment for Local Healthcare Workers

To date, the Racine, WI team at Cree Lighting has 3D printed and donated 350 “ear savers” to help secure face masks and is also working with Ascension All Saints Hospital to determine if 3D printed face shields will meet its needs.

RACINE, Wis., April 20, 2020—To give back to the local healthcare community facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cree Lighting has begun producing personal protective equipment (PPE) in its Racine, Wisconsin, manufacturing facility for the healthcare workers of Racine’s Ascension All Saints Hospital. To date, the team has 3D printed and donated 350 “ear savers” to help secure face masks and is also working with the hospital to determine if 3D printed face shields will meet its needs.

“We’re happy to do whatever we can to support the healthcare professionals working diligently to help protect us,” said Racine Director of Operations Brian Kinnune.

Cree Lighting learned of the need and the 3D printing solution through the professional networking group of Vice President of Global Operations and Supply Chain Rick Rosser. Electrical Engineering Technician Aaron Stillman now oversees the printing in an area of the facility designated for prototyping products.

The company continues to support critical infrastructure in providing lighting to hospitals, grocery stores, gas stations and other key businesses.
