Mississippi community college partners with Nevco to bring first baseball and softball video displays to the MACJC
GREENVILLE, IL – Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) in Booneville, MS partnered with Nevco to provide brand new Video Display, Scoring, and Audio Solutions to the baseball and softball fields at their new “Field of Dreams” Complex. The new video displays will serve as an important recruiting tool for NEMCC, which is the first institution in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) to outfit baseball or softball fields with video solutions.
Construction on the “Field of Dreams” Complex began in August 2018 and is set for the grand opening prior to the 2020 baseball and softball seasons. The new home of Tigers’ baseball and softball will be the first on-campus home for the teams, and provide players, coaches, and fans with a true college game-day experience. Each field will feature seating for 200+ fans, in addition to artificial turf, and Nevco Video Displays, Scoring, and Audio Solutions.
“We are extremely proud to work with NEMCC to help enhance this new facility with state-of-the-art video scoring solutions and stadium sound,” said Nevco Sports Video National Sales Executive, Wes Wood. “This facility is a complete game changer and will provide an incredible experience for fans, players, coaches and the entire surrounding community.”
Extending over the right field wall of the Tigers’ baseball field is a new 16mm, Full Color Nevco LED Video Display which stands more than 13’H and stretches over 22’W. The video display is designed with more than 100,000 eye-catching pixels to display live-in game action, crowd-engaging fan prompts, endless revenue-generating sponsorships, and more. At the bottom of the structure is a Model 1604 Baseball scoreboard featuring Electronic Team Names which allows the Tigers to customize the home and guest team names for every game at the facility.
“When (Nevco) designed everything, they did a great job,” said NEMCC Head Baseball Coach, Richy Harrelson. “We’re going to show off our guys for the fans when they get here this season. It’s also going to be a huge selling point in recruiting.”
Behind the left-center field fence of the softball field, stands a new 16mm, Full Color Nevco LED Video Display with 54,000 pixels, which can be easily seen from any seat inside the complex. The video display reaches nearly 10’H and spans almost 16’W. A Model 1606 Softball/Baseball Scoreboard featuring Electronic Team Names sits beneath the video display.
The video displays are capable of showcasing everything from live game action and instant replays to vibrant animated graphics and sponsorship messages. Hidden away from the fan’s eye, the displays are operated by utilizing Nevco’s proprietary Display Director™ Software, which allows the Tigers’ game-day operations to be easily managed through, one, universal operating system.
Above each of the video displays is a Stadium Pro™ 1000 Sound System which brings the noise, delivering fans a concert-esque audio experience which can be heard crystal clear from any seat at the complex. The sound system is hidden discreetly behind a personalized mesh face scrim showcasing the Tigers’ logos and the words TIGERS BASEBALL or TIGERS SOFTBALL. Seated at the top of the structure is a Decorative Arch Truss highlighted with Rear-Lit letters which read NEMCC. The structures are complete with non-illuminated sponsor signage flanking the sides of the video displays.
“It just makes the possibilities to enhance the overall in-game experience for our players and fans endless,” said NEMCC Head Softball Coach, Jody Long. “I think it’ll pay dividends in the recruiting process as well. It’s a great way to continue to grow our sport within the community.”
The “Field of Dreams” Complex is set to be the first facility with video displays on any baseball or softball field among the 15 members of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC). The video displays will be the final piece of what is to become one of the foremost athletic complexes in college athletics and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
“Our administration is just unbelievable with its support. They are making a commitment to our students,” said NEMCC Athletic Director, Kent Farris. “It just blows my mind. It’s got all the bells and whistles. It’s going to be something that really benefits our programs.”
The Tigers baseball and softball teams are set to debut the Video Display, Scoring, and Audio Solutions for the Field of Dreams Dedication on February 1 in anticipation of the 2020 seasons.
