Carmanah gets orders for LED signs and bus stops
Carmanah has received follow-on orders for solar-powered LED bus stop lighting in London, and point-of-sale signs for LG Electronics.
"Carmanah is pleased to continue to provide the solar lighting for London Buses' solar illuminated bus stop project," states Carmanah's CEO, Art Aylesworth. "Carmanah has been involved with this initiative since the early field trials in 2001, and we are proud to maintain our relationship with Trueform as a technology partner to London Buses."
The solar environment in London is very challenging and a good test of Carmanah's proprietary solar energy management systems. This order follows a September 2005 order when Carmanah was selected for the provision of solar LED lighting and was awarded an initial rollout valued at $1.5 million.
"We are very pleased with the results of the installation of the initial 1000+ systems since September 2005, which were assembled and delivered via our new facilities in Crawley, England," said Richard Sowter, VP of European Operations.
Carmanah's LED Sign Group has received a second order from LG Electronics MobileComm USA Inc, for 1500 retail point of sale edge-lit illuminated signs to be installed in various retail stores across the United States. This order follows a previous order of 1000 signs delivered since May 2005.
LG Electronics MobileComm USA Inc is a business unit of LG Electronics (LGE), a global manufacturer of personal communications equipment. LG was attracted to the crisp, clean contemporary look of Carmanah's modern LED edge-lit signs and the practical advantages they offer, including: a 10-year lamp life, an energy-efficient 12V electrical system, no maintenance, simple installation and no breakage during shipping.
Carmanah's LED Sign Group has been designing and manufacturing energy efficient, LED edge-lit signs for more than 10 years. Using state-of-the-art manufacturing and production procedures, virtually any logo or design can be engraved or etched on an acrylic panel and illuminated with LEDs.
