Nora Lighting LED panels illuminate historic stained glass windows in Southern chapel

Dec. 15, 2016
Two historic stained glass windows at the Legacy Chapel in Madison, AL, were revitalized with Edge-Lit LED panels from Nora Lighting. The 10-foot round windows, featuring scenes from the life of Christ, were originally created more than 60 years ago and were painstakingly restored for the new location.

Because the chapel is situated within the Legacy Funeral Home, there was no natural light. The construction team devised a unique solution: squared-off structural frames placed behind the window openings.

Nora’s rectangular-shaped LED Edge-Lit Panels were fitted into the squared-off frames and hardwired to the power source. The structural frames also allowed rear access to the lighting panels at any time. The panels were a practical solution: they feature an opalescent lens with an easy-on-the-eyes glow; the LED light is very consistent; there are no shadows or heat; the 4000 Kelvin temp provided very realistic, dynamic color tones. The two windows required 75 Nora 2’ x 2’ LED panels.
