Verde LED secures contract to supply solid-state lighting to 'green' power station in London

VERDE LED who specialises in the design, supply and installation of LED efficient lighting solutions for commercial and industrial applications announced a deal with 20C to supply its energy efficient LED lighting solutions for the "Greenest" power station in the UK.

2OC, a green utility company based in the UK, began construction of the combined heat and intelligent power (CHiP) plant at Beckton in east London in 2013 with J Murphy & Sons appointed as the main contractor. The plant is located adjacent to the National Grid Gas Pressure Reduction Station.
The main source of fuel for the plant will be the fats, oils and gases, which are thrown away by households and restaurants.

The plant will have annual output of 130GWh of electricity, while the installed capacity will be 19MW. It is expected to operate at an electrical efficiency of more than 65% and provide power for approximately 40,000 households.

VERDE LED used a combination of innovative state of the art Modular LED lights combined with remote controlling to win the contract ahead of stiff international competition. The result is that the power station will save 41 tonnes of carbon per annum and provide 62% energy savings compared to traditional lighting technology.
