Allen County War Memorial Coliseum selects Ephesus LED sports lighting and controls

June 10, 2015
SYRACUSE, NY–Ephesus Lighting, the leader in developing high-output LED lighting solutions for sports and entertainment venues, has been selected to install LED sports lighting at The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN. In addition to hosting hundreds of entertainment and community events annually, the 13,000-seat facility serves as the home arena of the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets, NBADL Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the WFTDA Fort Wayne Derby Girls.

“We are pleased to welcome the people of Fort Wayne to the future of sports lighting,” said Mike Lorenz, president of Ephesus Lighting. “No matter if the event is hockey, basketball, a concert or family show, the performers, fans and broadcasters see a better game under the higher-quality consistent lighting that our Ephesus LED solution provides.”

The Ephesus LED sports lighting will generate significantly more light than the previous metal-halide system with a dramatic reduction in wattage. Controlled by the Ephesus wireless control system, the new lighting solution allows for a variety of pre-programmed entertaining light shows. Additionally, the LED lighting solution is expected to save more than 80 percent in annual energy and maintenance costs.

“Guest experience is at the top of the list of how we evaluate new investments for our facility,” said Randy L. Brown, Executive Vice President & General Manager of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. “We believe that the Ephesus LED solution will give our guests and fans of our sports tenants something to be excited about, while providing us enhanced efficiency and savings on utility costs.”

Ephesus Lighting has led the LED lighting explosion at sports and entertainment facilities across North America by engineering LED lighting solutions that provide a significant increase in illumination when compared to all other lighting systems. Ephesus’ LED sports lighting is brighter, and through its industry-leading glare-control system its fixtures shine more uniformly on the playing surface, creating a better stage for players and fans both in the stadium and those watching on high-definition television. The versatility of LED also allows for operational flexibility and the creation of programmable light shows for fan entertainment. And, since LED lights can be turned on and off with the flick of a switch, if a power outage were to cause a blackout, they can be turned back on immediately. Ephesus LED solutions are easy to install, maintenance-free for years and offer facilities the lowest total operating costs.

Since lighting the first sports venue with LED technology in North America in 2012, Ephesus Lighting luminaires have been operational for over 20 million hours at indoor and outdoor sports and entertainment venues across North America including: University of Phoenix Stadium, the home field of the NFL Arizona Cardinals; the Canadian Tire Centre, home ice of the NHL Ottawa Senators; and top college arenas and stadiums at Duke, Cornell, the Naval Academy, the University of Rhode Island and many more.
