Long Beach State adds Daktronics LED video displays at Walter Pyramid and University Pool

Nov. 17, 2014
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Daktronics Inc. (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., has partnered with Long Beach State to add video displays at Walter Pyramid for men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball and at University Pool to keep score and entertain fans at water polo events. Installation of the University Pool display was completed after the season was over and the display is now ready for use at upcoming water polo events in Long Beach, California. Installation at Walter Pyramid is scheduled for November.

“Daktronics has been a long term partner with Beach Athletics and we are excited having them enhance the fan experience in the Walter Pyramid and Ken Lingren Aquatics Center,” said Long Beach State Athletic Director Vic Cegles. “The LED video boards are state-of-the-art allowing us to appropriately acknowledge sponsors and student athletes while also ensuring crowd participation.”
The aquatics display features 16 millimeter line spacing and measures approximately 6 feet high by 8.5 feet wide. It is capable of showing live video and instant replays as well as providing fans with the score, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, sponsor advertising, and other desired game information.

As an outdoor display, it provides multiple levels of protection from the elements to keep all the components safe from the coastal atmosphere. It also incorporates excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility for a broad appeal wherever fans may be seated.

The upcoming installation at Walter Pyramid will feature a display measuring 14 feet high by 60 feet wide that employs 10 millimeter line spacing. This display features the same full video and replay capabilities while also being able to be divided into multiple sections to show scoring and statistical information, animations and graphics, sponsor messages, and other announcements.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership at Long Beach State with the video installations at University Pool and Walter Pyramid,” said Robin Hall, Daktronics sales representative. “These displays will bring added levels of entertainment and excitement to water polo, basketball and volleyball events on campus and we look forward to a continued partnership with the university.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
