Drake University plans to update basketball facility with Daktronics LED video display

Sept. 5, 2014
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has been asked by Drake University to install a new video display system in the Knapp Center, home to Bulldogs athletics, this fall.

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Daktronics to enhance the game-day atmosphere in the Knapp Center,” said Drake University director of athletics Sandy Hatfield Clubb. “Daktronics is the unquestioned industry leader in LED video display technology. Their expertise will upgrade the fan experience and provide additional revenue streams.”

Drake will be receiving two end-wall displays that will each measure approximately 10 feet high by 29 feet wide and will both incorporate 6 millimeter line spacing. These displays will exhibit excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility. They are capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. They can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.

The Bulldogs have also requested the installation of two transparent, two-sided game and shot clocks that will be mounted upon each backboard. These clocks will be visible from both sides of the court without obstructing any view of the action.

In addition to the equipment installation, Drake will also receive the custom creation of digital content that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services, an award-winning in-house creative team. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the university.

“Drake has been a long time customer of Daktronics and we appreciate their continued trust in our ability to help enhance their game-day environment,” said Sales Representative Matt Warnke. “Not only will these new displays enhance the game-day environment, but these new displays will allow greater flexibility in how they promote their sponsors and supporters of Drake Athletics.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
