WeeTect offers UV-resistant polycarbonate sheet for LED lenses and SSL design

What is unique about UV resistant polycarbonate sheet for LED lighting fixtures?
The WeeTect R&D team wrote a report on the effects of subjecting polycarbonate sheets to a continuous light. Degradation of polycarbonate was a major area of concern. The company, through advanced manufacturing technique has introduced a superior UV resistant PC sheet. This is specifically for LED systems.
In all lighting fixtures, the polycarbonate material is subjected to UV light from two main sources:
1. LED; a blue LED, coated with phosphor (yellow) will produce white light. This light has negligible UV radiations thus, may not affect the polycarbonate sheet.
2. Natural light from the sun or artificial sources; they produce high amount of UV radiation that degrade intrinsic properties of polycarbonate sheet.
It is a reason for the yellowish color that is common in most LED headlamps in vehicles. This is due to substandard anti-UV treatment.

WeeTect’s UV resistant polycarbonate sheets have co-extruded UV protective layer on both sides. The main aim is to prevent about 99% of any damage due to UV radiations. Combining this feature with light weight, enhanced light transmission, impact and chemical resistance, make this polycarbonate sheet a perfect choice for some LED lenses and lighting fixture applications.
This is the main reason why this UV resistant PC sheet is highly recommended for high-end engineering application and fabrication of SSL design in the lighting industry.
