TerraLUX, a manufacturer of LED light engines, has appointed Jim Miller as President and CEO. See company Press Release. Anthony Catalano, Founder of TerraLUX, will continue in a full time capacity as a Director and Chief Scientist.

TerraLUX closed an investment with Access Venture Partners in February this year – see News. Part of the plan surrounding the financing was to build on TerraLUX's solid core management team by adding "world class" executive talent to accelerate the company’s growth in the portable and general lighting markets. "Recruiting a leader like Jim Miller speaks volumes about the strength of the TerraLUX technology base and the team he will be leading,” said David Gold from Access Venture Partners.

Miller was formerly Vice President Sales with Philips Lumileds, and brings expertise in building high technology companies from early stage to market place leadership in just a few years. Catalano said, “Jim’s track record in the LED industry with Phillips Lumileds and other high tech companies makes him the perfect match to bring TerraLUX to leadership in solid state lighting.

"TerraLUX InSide has become a standard in quality and performance for LED Light Engines in the portable markets," continued Catalano. "Our next target is the general lighting industry, and Jim will lead us there.”

Carl Kalin, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, said that the tremendous demand for LED lighting in the USA is not being met today in quality, performance or efficiency by current providers.

"TerraLUX is accelerating its plan to capitalize upon this situation by providing a new breed of OEM LED light engines for the general lighting industry," said Kalin. "These core modules are built upon proven expertise in thermal, electrical, optical and mechanical design coupled with high quality off-shore manufacturing. TerraLUX is committed to…delivering a Return-On-Investment that will grow the new LED markets.”
